What Are AmberPax™ Collections?

Simply put, AmberPax™ Collections are groups of five stories centered around a specific theme. Each story within an AmberPax™ is released individually, on the same day as the others, and can be purchased separately, but these five stories can also be purchased as a single unit (the full AmberPax™) at a discount, currently 25%. Generally, an AmberPax™ is similar to an "anthology" of stories, but instead of the titles being released in only a single volume (file), they are also available individually. These AmberPax™ Collections are sold exclusively through our website and only in electronic format.

THIS BLOG is for news about the Pax Collections - follow it to keep up with releases, find early news of the upcoming collections, and share Pax fun and chat with the authors!

All Amber Paxes can be bought at Amber Quill HERE.

A Cowboy Out of Texas by Sean Michael

When the call came for a Texas Round-Up themed Amber PAX collection, I knew immediately that I wanted to bring a Texas cowboy up to Canada and pair him up with someone who definitely wasn’t a cowboy. Opposites attract and all that. From that idea Sam was born, a rodeo rider who has just suffered an injury, nothing new for him, but this time he’s not only outside of Texas, he’s not even in the US anymore. Once I had Sam, Pat followed along quickly, more than eager to claim this cowboy for his very own. It was a lot of fun, melding together two men who on the surface are quite different, but are alike in all the ways that matter.

I hope you enjoy the results of my Canada/Texas meld.

Sam Hawker’s fall off a bucking bronc at an event in Canada has left him both physically broken and financially broke and in a hospital with his leg in traction. Between worrying about how he’ll pay his medical bills and not being able to move, he’s going more than a little stir crazy.

Easy on the eyes, Pat Bouchard is the nurse assigned to Sam for his stay at the hospital, and the two men get to know each other as Pat cares for and entertains Sam. They grow even closer when Pat offers Sam a place to stay while he recovers.

What are they going to do when Sam’s all better and doesn’t have a reason to stay in Canada any longer?

Pick up the book today at Amber Allure at 35% off!

Excerpt:

“Just spiffy, thanks. Can I go yet?”

“Can you fly?” Pat asked.

“Is that a trick question?” He could totally get in a plane, except that he had zero idea how he’d get his happy ass onto the thing. He didn’t have wings—cool idea though.

“Not exactly. You see all that?” Pat waved at the wires holding Sam’s leg up off the bed. “You can’t walk with all that gear, so, if you can fly your way out of here, you can go. Otherwise, you’re stuck with us for a while.”

“Ah. It was a trick question.” He grinned at the guy—Pat—and shrugged. “It was worth a try.”

“I suppose. I’m just trying not to be hurt that you’re so eager to leave my ward.” Pat gave him the fakest pout he’d ever seen, followed by a wink.

Sam chuckled. “I’m just feeling like a cowboy out of Texas.”

“I’m guessing that’s because you are. You’re my first, you know.”

“Cowboy or Texan?”

“Texan. We don’t always get a cowboy when the Russell Rodeo blows through, but it happens now and then.” Pat’s smile disappeared. “Now, in all seriousness. How are you feeling?”

“Cooped up. Trapped as hell.” A little wigged.

“I’ll just bet. Is anything hurting? And has someone explained how the magic button attached to your IV works yet?” Pat pointed to the morphine button.

“They did. I’m okay, ready to stop peeing in a bottle.”

“As soon as they spring you from this contraption you’ll be peeing wherever you want. I suggest sticking to the bathroom though.” Pat gave him a wink.

“Yeah, yeah.” Sam leaned back, his head throbbing violently.

“What’s hurting?” Pat asked, fingers on Sam’s wrist, eyes on his watch.

“My head, man. I’m fixin’ to be sick.”

Pat grabbed a kidney shaped pan, setting it on his chest. “Just have at it if you need to.” Then Pat made a couple of adjustments to his line. “You ever have any problems with painkillers before?”

“No, sir.” And God knew he’d had lots of them. The pounding in Sam’s head eased off and he relaxed back into the pillows.

“Maybe you were just pushing a little hard. I know you want to get up and go, but your body is going to need some time here, to heal.” Pat pulled a thermometer out of his pocket and stuck it in Sam’s ear, making it click. Then the nurse wrote some stuff in his chart.

“You’re actually looking really good. I know you probably don’t believe it, but it’s true. And I have other patients to check on. I’ll be back when I’ve done that, see if we can’t find you something to keep you from tearing your hair out. In the meantime, if anything starts hurting suddenly or something doesn’t feel right, you page me.” Pat put the little pager in his hand. “I mean it. I’d rather you bother me for nothing than walk in here and find you coding, got it?”

“Uh-huh.” Coding, that didn’t sound good at all.

Pat found the remote all the way over next to the TV and brought it to Sam. “Six hundred channels, but I bet there’s nothing good on.”

“Never is.” He’d find something mindless, some cop show.

“Remember, use that call button if you need it.” Pat headed out, his backend even prettier than his front side had been. He was fine as frog hair.

At least Sam’d get to sit and watch the boob tube.

...Christ on a crutch. Sam wasn’t sure how he’d ended up in this hospital in the middle of the Great White North, but he sure had. He was up here with a broken leg that had been stomped by the biggest bronc he’d seen since he’d been in Cheyenne. The fucking horses had to be big to survive the cold, he guessed, although it wasn’t fucking cold right now, was it? No, it was July, and it was humid like Houston, and fairly damned warm. Least they all spoke the language. If he was gonna get stranded and broken in a foreign country, he’d picked a decent one. Be more decent if he was on a beach in Mexico with tequila, but still.

His leg throbbed, all the traction wires and enforced immobility enough to drive a man out of his friggin’ mind. Then one of the prettiest men he’d ever seen came in wearing blue scrubs with cartoon dolphins on them. The guy had short brown hair and sparkling hazel eyes, teeth white in a ready smile.

“Good morning, I’m Pat and I’m going to be your day nurse while you’re here.” The man had a hint of an accent that was different from most he’d heard up here. Maybe French?

Pat grabbed Sam’s chart on the way to his side, glancing at it before turning the hazel gaze back on him. “How are you feeling this morning, Mr. Hawker?”

“Just spiffy, thanks. Can I go yet?”

“Can you fly?” Pat asked.

“Is that a trick question?” He could totally get in a plane, except that he had zero idea how he’d get his happy ass onto the thing. He didn’t have wings—cool idea though.

Finding the Way Home by Sean Michael

I enjoy doing the AMBERPAX collections because it’s neat to see how different everyone’s stories are when we all start from the same place. To Love a Hero drew me in right away because some of my fondest characters are soldiers and I was pleased to write another one (or two as the case may be).

Now, one of the guys in the story is called Horse. I tell you, these guys name themselves and I fought Horse on his name and I fought him hard. I can’t have a hero in a contemporary story whose name is Horse. I was adamant. He was just as adamant that while it wasn’t his actual name, it was his nickname and it was the name that everyone knew him by. Everyone. Because anyone who dared call him by his real first name received a beat down and didn’t do it again.

At the risk of him somehow managing to come to life and giving me a beat down for divulging it, I will share that his real name is Horace. Horace Grundy the third. Yeah, I’d go by Horse too.

I hope you enjoy James and Horse!

Blurb: When he arrives home from a long stint in the hospital after losing his right arm to an IED blast, Sergeant James Miller certainly doesn’t expect his keys not to work and a strange man answering his door, only to learn his boyfriend has dumped him. Yet that’s exactly what happens, and James is just happy that he can count on his old platoon buddy to have his back, and a spare bedroom he can use until he gets on his feet.

Horace Grundy the third—“Horse” to anyone who doesn’t want to get his butt kicked—is retired and has a tidy house on the beach that he calls home. The place isn’t big, but he figures there is plenty of room for James, even if he has always fancied the man.

Thankfully, the two of them fit together well, and soon the roommates become more. But James’s past isn’t ready to let go of him yet, and the new lovers are caught off-guard when James’s ex-boyfriend suddenly reappears in his life. Can James and Horse’s new relationship weather the storm?

Excerpt:

Horse pushed the couch so it was angled across two walls, still facing the TV, which gave him room to put both rockers by the window, side by side. He could almost picture Jim’s grandparents in them, rocking together. He put Jim’s bags on the bed in the spare room, and then went back out to make sure the truck was secure.

He couldn’t believe Jim’s man had done him like that. Well, unfortunately, he could believe it. Jim wasn’t the only friend Horse had whose relationship had crumbled beneath the stress of being deployed.

It was still shitty as hell and Jim didn’t deserve it. Horse wanted to break some heads.

At the same time, Jim was free now and Horse had wanted the man since they’d first met. He wouldn’t call it a crush because he was a fucking soldier, but he’d been hot for Jim since the start.

Horse poured himself another cup of coffee, grabbed a bag of cookies, and turned on the TV.

Jim headed in a few moments later, shaved and wearing a pair of shorts and a tank top. The man looked fine. He was lean, with a belly to fucking die for, blond hair a little shaggy, but the stubble was gone. Wow.

Yeah, Horse was still hot for the man. He wasn’t going to jump Jim’s bones two seconds after he’d been dumped, though. That would be fucking creepy.

He looked at Jim’s stump. It was smooth, the surgeon had done a damn good job.

“Wanna look?” Jim walked right up, put what was left of the arm in Horse’s hands. It had been blown off at the elbow, and the surgery had taken another inch and a half or so. It was warm, alive, the flesh healthy. Instead of taking away from Jim’s appeal, it made the guy even hotter.

Horse slid his hand over the stump. “They did well by you, man.”

“They did. It doesn’t hurt. I was lucky.”

“And you’re having good luck with the prosthetic?” He continued to hold the stump, stroking Jim’s skin idly.

“Yeah. Yeah, I’m learning. I imagine it’ll always be easier just to use my left arm, but it works.”

Horse finally let go and patted the couch cushion beside him. “Grab a seat.”

“Thanks.” Jim plopped down, sighed like he was a hot air balloon losing all its air. “God, it’s good to see you.”

“You, too, Sarge.” It had been well over a year since Jim had been sent stateside with his arm blown off.

Horse changed channels, finding a marathon of NCIS just starting up. “This good?” He was easy, really.

“Uh-huh. Like Gibbs. Reminds me of you.”

“That pretty boy? Me?” Horse laughed it off, but he was pleased.

“Yeah. You.” Jim settled back, eyelids heavy.

Horse sat back, grinning like a fool.

Read a short excerpt...

...Sergeant James Miller, retired, sat at the end of the driveway of the little beach house, just about as unsure as he’d been since he’d lost his right arm to an IED blast in the fucking desert. This wasn’t what was supposed to happen, right? He was a fucking wounded warrior. He was supposed to go home to Andy, have a hero’s welcome. Andy was supposed to hug him, tell him that it was okay, no big deal. It was cool. Stumps were hot. Retirement and pensions were hot.

Instead, what he got was another dude answering the door at the house he was supposed to be coming home to. A fucking psychiatrist to Andy’s nurse. A doctor.

“Sorry, James.”

“It just happened, you know?”

“You were always gone.”

“I didn’t tell you because you were hurt.”

Motherfucker.

So, what did he do? Did he kill Dr. Shrinker and Andy and bury their bodies in the backyard like he wanted to? No. He’d called Horse and asked if he could couch surf for a few days until he got organized. Now he was sitting in front of some little house on the beach in the Carolinas, trying to get his shit together enough to go knock on the door at the crack of dawn.

The door opened, and a tall, broad stud of a man came out, hands on his hips as he looked down the drive. Horace Grundy the Third—Horse to everyone who knew him.

“Are you coming in or do I need to come get you?”

“Fuck you, man.” James slid out of the cab, just about as tired as a man could be. All his shit was in the back of his truck. Everything he fucking owned reduced to one flatbed. Hell, it wasn’t even packed tight or anything. “This stuff safe out here?”

“Hell, yeah. ’Til dark anyway.” Horse shook his head and stepped out of the way, giving James room to get through the door. “You look like crap.”

“Thanks. I feel like hammered shit. And thanks for letting me come down.” It felt good, knowing he had a real friend, someone he could count on.

Horse clapped a hand on his shoulder, squeezed. “No problem. You take as long as you need.”

The house was small and neat as a pin. If he hadn’t known Horse was military, he sure would have guessed it from his home. Horse led him through the little front room that was mostly couch and TV and into a tiny kitchen where coffee was brewed.

“Oh, thank God.” James nodded at the offer of a cup. “Please.”

Horse gave it to him, just how he liked it—black as midnight—then sat across from him.

Horse didn’t say anything, but James could hear the question. He also knew if he wasn’t ready to talk, Horse would accept that, too.

“He’s living with a doctor, has been for a year. Asshole never said. He claimed he didn’t know how to tell me because of this.” James lifted his “arm.” He wasn’t too bad with it, really, although right now it felt like it weighed a thousand pounds.

“Fucking asshole coward.”

“Yeah. I mean, I wouldn’t have gone there. He’d changed the locks.” He’d had to knock at his own door.

“Jesus Christ, Sarge, that’s pretty fucking low. You know, I have a gun.” Horse’s grin was positively evil.

“I do know that. He was lucky I didn’t.” James managed a grin of his own...

The Moon by Sean Michael

I couldn’t resist contributing to this PAX collection, when the call for “Tarot” came in. I enjoyed writing a prologue that used the cards as a way to push off the story.

Danny McMann has been busy on pack business for weeks and just wants to spend the upcoming full moon deep in the woods with his pack, running, hunting, napping and generally goofing off. The last thing he wants to hear is that they’ve got another man on their hands who’s been bitten and is about to turn with the arrival of the full moon.

Hammond Argyle was in a bar fight a few weeks ago and was bitten by his assailant. He’s been in a foul mood ever since and it’s only getting worse. As is the way, his skin itches and feels like it doesn’t fit him anymore. So when someone starts lurking around, following him, it’s about all he can take.

Will Danny be able to help Hammond through his first change and beyond?

Smutty Excerpt:

It was real then. Last night. The…” Argie waved a hand around inclusively.

“Change. Others call it shifting or wolfing. You were amazing.”

“It was… I’ve never felt anything like it.” Argie shook his head. “I feel like I should be angry, but I just want to throw you down and fuck your brains out.”

Oh. Now, that was interesting.

“Are you sure I’m gay?” Danny was sure, but that didn’t mean anyone else could be without asking him first.

Argie snorted. “No. What I am sure of is that you’re mine.” As soon as he said the words, Argie looked surprised by them, then he nodded. “Yeah, that’s right.”

“Pardon?” No. No way. Danny was not going to the mates place.

“You heard me, Danny.” Argie stepped up to him and tugged him up from where he was sitting on the ground, pulling him up against the strong body.

Oh. Oh, right. Nakedness. Yippee! He could totally handle a little hanky-panky. As reactions went, it sure beat getting the shit kicked out of him.

When he didn’t struggle, Argie dropped his head, bringing their mouths together in a hard kiss. He plastered himself against Argie, taking what he needed, what he craved. It had been so long.

Argie’s hands landed on his ass, fingers digging in and Danny jerked, the pressure intense and surprising. Deep. Lifting him, Argie bit at his lips as they moved to the side of the trailer. Argie pushed him up against the trailer wall, pressing eagerly against him.

This was surprising. Interesting. Delicious.

Cold wall and hot man, the opposing sensations keeping him awake, aware. Growls and moans filled his mouth. And what the hell. What could it hurt? One hard fuck? The first one he’d had in months and months.

Danny dived into the kiss, fighting for dominance, but Argie fought to keep it, refusing to give up control.

Arousal flooded him at that, and he keened softly. Argie called back to him, grabbing up his legs and helping him put them around Argie’s waist.

“Oh, fuck. Yes.” Danny arched, rubbing them together hard.

“Gonna fuck you. Got lube?”

“Somewhere? Oil? Yeah.”

“Condoms?”

Of course Argie wouldn’t know their kind couldn’t get sick. “We don’t share diseases, pup.”

“I’m not a pup.” Argie’s growl was immediate, sure.

“No?” Because Danny was pretty sure that Argie was—a brand spanking new wolf.

“No.” The word was snarled and he was pushed up hard against the side of the trailer. This time, Argie’s kiss threatened to eat him completely up. It stole his breath, the sensation like being in the center of a hurricane.

Read a short excerpt...

...Fanny, the grizzled old seer, nodded sagely and pulled another card from her deck.

The Death card. Endings, beginnings, change, transformation, transition. Fuck a duck, that was Danny’s card.

He sighed, rolled his eyes. “Okay. Okay, I’ll go make sure he knows the rules, doesn’t freak out, blah, blah, blah. No more anyone biting anybody else though, okay? I’m totally not doing this every weekend.”

Chuckling at him, Fanny pulled another card, and one of her bushy gray eyebrows went up. Then she smiled and tucked all three cards back into the deck. “You’ll probably not need to worry about it again.”

“No? Good deal.” Danny leaned in, kissed her dry dusty cheek. “You have a name for me?”

“Do I have to do everything for you young pups these days?” she asked.

“Absolutely. We’re spoiled rotten.” Not to mention it would be infinitely easier to track this guy down if he had a name, and they were right on the cusp of the moon—time was of the essence.

She swatted at him, then her gaze went inside, eyes staring through him for a moment. She blinked, coming back to the present. “Hammond Argyle.”

“Argyle? Do we even allow people called Argyle be wolves?”

“We don’t seem to have had a choice, impertinent pup. And you’d better get going if you’re going to be in the city before the moon brings its changes.” Her gruff words belied the fact that she liked him. Danny could see the fondness in her eyes, still bright as the sky despite her extreme age.

“I’m headed out. I’ll be in touch.” He just wanted to get this done so he could enjoy a break.

“Try not to leave a trail of havoc behind you, Danny.” Rich could growl when he wanted to.

“You got it!” Like the so-called havoc was ever his fault. He wasn’t the one biting people, only cleaning up the messes after those who were.

“No havoc,” Rich called out again as Danny headed out.

“Nope! Havoc free, that’s my motto! No havoc at all.” Right. Trouble followed him like a shadow whether it was of his making or not. And Rich’s snort said he was thinking exactly the same thing...

Living the Dream by Sean Michael

My contribution to the California Dreamin’ AmberPax is Living the Dream.

That’s the expression that’s always used, isn’t it? I’m living the dream. What does it really mean, though? For most people I imagine it means a good job making lots of money, a partner, vacations… but when “living the dream” leads to stress and heart attack at an early age, Went is forced to go on vacation to re-evaluate his life. He’s not supposed to have brought work along, but really, it’s all Went knows at this point.

Then he meets Chip, who used to be just like him, but who has come up with a whole new meaning for living the dream. Chip is enjoying life and he’s healthy and happy and more than willing to have fun with Went as long as the man’s around.

At some point, the dream morphs again for both men – are they going to be up to the task when it does?

You’ll just have to read the book to find out!

Wentworth “Went" Dawson, young CEO and owner of Dawson Dynamics, is on an enforced vacation after suffering a mild heart attack. He has a list of foods he shouldn’t eat and a prescription for downtime, which is why he’s at Lake Tahoe, California, sitting in the hotel restaurant working on his laptop.

Chip knows all about life in the fast lane and heart attacks, the very reasons he sold his dot-com company six years ago and is now experiencing his own personal joy in the mountains, skiing, snowboarding, swimming, and hiking. Putting in a shift at the restaurant for spending money, he’s immediately attracted to the man with the laptop, and a little flirting proves that Went is interested also.

Will Went and Chip simply have a quick vacation fling, or is there more between them than meets the eye?

*_*_*

Excerpt:

Laughing, he leaned past Chip to grab the first lube he saw and a bright pink condom from a pile of rainbow colored packages. “Pink?” he teased.

“My asshole doesn’t mind. It’s totally secure in its manhood.”

That had him laughing again. Shit, he’d forgotten how laughing made sex that much better.

“Good for your asshole,” he teased, slicking up his fingers with what appeared to be raspberry flavored lube.

“I hope so, man. I truly do.”

“Yeah, me too.” He’d hate to be found wanting.

He pressed a single finger against the asshole in question. He took his time, circling the tiny wrinkled ring, slicking it and wetting it. When he finally sank his finger in, he moaned, the tight heat amazing. The dragon seemed to come alive, moving with Chip’s body. Mesmerizing. Sexy as hell.

He fucked Chip with just the one finger, watching the man move. It was easy to tell that Chip wasn’t lying when he said he loved sex.

Pushing in another finger, he slowly opened Chip up. He couldn’t wait to bury himself inside there.

“You going to get it up for me again, beautiful? Gonna fuck me hard?”

“Already up for you again.” He’d have to be dead not to be.

“Love to hear that.” Chip spread wider, balls swinging.

Went made it three fingers, spreading them wide to stretch Chip.

“Oh…” The word was accompanied by an arch, Chip’s body curling up.

“God, you’re sexy.” Like honestly, truly.

“More, beautiful. Now.”

“Okay. Let me put the condom on.” He tugged his fingers away and tore open the package. Wow. That was really pink. Really. He stuck it over his prick, which turned it really pink, too. Oh God. He didn’t think he could do this. “Um…can I have a different condom?”

Chip chuckled, then leaned in, ass rubbing his cock. Oh.

“Fuck…” Closing his eyes, he pushed forward, his prick sinking into Chip’s body. The pink rubber would do just fine.

Living the Dream by Sean Michael

Genres: Gay/Contemporary
Heat Level: 3
Length: Extended Amber Kiss (12k words)

...“Dude, you’re working ’til when?”

Chip grinned, shrugged. “I took a shift ’til five, then I’m hot-tubbing it, man, soaking my bones.”

Bennie snorted. “You and your bone.”

“Hell yeah.” He just needed a little cash to play with, then he wouldn’t snag another shift for a week or so. Tips were shitty until the snow started falling, anyway.

“Chip, table nine. He’s not going to serve himself.” Andrea snapped him on the ass with a towel.

“Oooh. Do it again!” He wiggled his ass, still laughing happily as he headed out to table nine. “Hey, man! How goes it?”

The guy at table nine was good-looking, with short blond hair and a square jaw. The steel-blue eyes that looked up at him were stressed to the gills, though, the lines around them pronounced. Maybe it had something to do with the laptop. Who brought work to Lake Tahoe?

“Can I help you?” Blue Eyes asked.

“I think that’s my line, beautiful. You want a cocktail? A lemonade?” A hand job?

Blue Eyes blinked. “Oh. Right.” One hand rubbed over the handsome face. “Sorry. Um…I should probably just order a coffee.”

“You sure? We make a killer whiskey sour.”

“That’s tempting. Probably not the best idea on an empty stomach, though.” Blue Eyes looked back at his computer, typing stuff.

“Do you need a menu? The specials are potato soup and lobster mac and cheese. That’s our thing, the mac and cheese.” He should know. He owned the restaurant.

“Oh yeah?” Blue Eyes pulled himself away from the laptop, glance moving up along Chip’s body. “Sure, lobster mac and cheese sounds good. I’ll have that whiskey sour, too.”

“Rock on, dude.” Chip grinned and nodded, then headed in to enter the order. Gary was a whiz in the kitchen, and worked his ass off. Good man.

It kind of felt like Blue Eyes was watching him leave. He swore he could feel those eyes on his ass. Chip let himself wiggle, rock back and forth. Play.

When he brought the drink back, he didn’t have to wait to get Blue Eyes’ attention again. He had the full attention of that hot gaze.

Oh, yummy.

“One whiskey sour, just for you.” He flirted—not enough to be nasty, but enough for the man to know he was interested...

Working to Win by Sean Michael

While doing a pair of sports nuts for the Winter Games PAX was tempting, I’d just finished writing speed skaters (Silver Edges). So I figured it was time to pick a different type of games that could be played in the Winter.

Then along came Jason and Bryan, who not only discover power play games, during winter, but they are also in the winter of their relationship, metaphorically speaking. I really liked the symmetry of that and went with it.

Together for more than six years, lovers Jason and Bryan rarely see each other anymore. Their jobs are running them ragged and keeping them apart. It’s gotten so they barely even communicate.

But a trip to a winter cabin for a long weekend, a last-ditch effort to rekindle their romance, reveals a side to the two men the other never knew existed, and their weekend suddenly includes power-play games.

Is this new aspect of their relationship doomed to fail, or will it help them find what they both need to make their lives work again?

It’s available here for 35% off the cover price!

There is an excerpt on the publisher’s site, but I thought I’d share a different one with you. I kept it PG! Well, mostly.

Jason was having the best dream. He and Bryan were making love and it was just like in the beginning, all heat and excitement and need. Moaning, he pushed closer, rubbing his prick against heat as the dream continued.

“Jason…” Bryan arched, sliding against him.

Fuck, it was so real… He reached out, finding Bryan’s flat, warm belly.

“Fucking love your belly.” He stroked it, cock rubbing against Bryan’s thigh.

Bryan chuckled softly. “You’re asleep. Untie me.”

“What?” He blinked awake, Bryan right there.

Man, when was the last time he’d woken up and Bryan was still in bed?

“Untie me and you can go back to sleep.”

“No way, man. I wanted to wake up with you and I did. Now comes the cuddling.” Cuddling and a little conversation. Possibly more orgasms. Okay, definitely more orgasms. He pressed a kiss to the side of Bryan’s mouth. “Besides, I don’t want to sleep. I want to get you all sticky.” He wanted to play.

“You can’t just leave me here to hang out,” Bryan complained.

“Oh yes I can.” He kept moving, shifting so he slid along that sexy belly.

He buried his nose in Bryan’s neck, wanting to leave a mark, knowing he shouldn’t. But goddamn it, this was his lover of six years. He found a spot on Bryan’s collarbone that would be hidden by one of those starched shirts. Opening his mouth, he wrapped his lips around the skin there.

“Oh…” Bryan’s toes curled, one leg drawing up.

Groaning, he kept sucking, kept pushing.

“You’ll leave a mark, Jason.”

That wasn’t a stop.

“That’s the idea, babe.” He scraped his teeth over the spot.

“Uh-huh. Be good…”

“Being so good.” He was. He was being fan-fucking-tastic. He scraped his teeth against Bry’s skin, hard enough to sting.

Jerking, Bry’s belly rubbed against him in the best way. Mmm. Someone liked that. So he did it again.

“No biting. Be good. Untie me.”

What Jason was going to do was gag Bryan.

Until next time

Read a short excerpt...

...The sound of wood filling the wood box startled Jason. It seemed weird, thinking of his perfectly composed, classy lover carrying and stacking wood.

God, what was he going to do? He’d been in love with Bryan for years. He needed this long weekend to work.

By the time the hot chocolate was done, Bryan was back in and working on getting a fire going.

He headed into the living room, a mug in each hand. “Hot chocolate with marshmallow floaters.”

“Please. It’s nippy.”

“It’s ready.” He sat on the couch as the fire flared into life. “Way to go.”

“Thanks.” Bryan got everything settled, then stood and took off his coat and hung it up.

“Come sit.” He held the mug up to Bryan.

Bryan sat, hands wrapping around the cup, and drank deeply.

Jason drank more slowly, watching his lover. “When we’re done here, I think we should go take a nap. It’s been a long time since either of us has had a decent night’s sleep.”

“Do you think the fire will be okay?”

“It should be fine with the grate over it.”

“Okay.” Bryan nodded, staring into the cup.

“You looking forward to our weekend?” Jason asked, needing connection, attention.

“I’m looking forward to spending time with you.”

Jason smiled, felt it honestly pull up the corners of his mouth. “Me, too. Spending time with you, I mean.”

Bryan finished his cocoa and headed to rinse out his cup and the pot.

Jason followed, watching his lover. “Okay, babe. Let’s go get a nap, okay?”

“I’m going to clean up and watch the fire a few. I’ll be in.”

Watch the fire and check emails no doubt.

Jason shook his head. “No, we’re going to go nap together, even if I have to tie you down to get you to stay in bed.”

Bryan’s near black eyes flashed over to him, one eyebrow arching. There was sudden, sharp heat, the air electric.

No way. No fucking way.

Jason had been into the scene before he’d taken over the factory for his father. He just hadn’t had the time after that. So it had never, ever come up with Bryan. His straight-laced, buttoned-up lover.

Holding Bryan’s gaze, he tested the waters. “I might just tie you up anyway.”

“You’re adorable.” Bryan looked away, cheeks heating...
